We had a very full weekend here in Shree Peetha Nilaya:

Starting with the Satsang given by Swami Vishwananda on Friday night, we started Saturday morning with the workshops that were offered:

Children's Bhajan workshop: Meera, Tandav and Chatur sang with the children
---
Nikhilananda gave an introduction to Sri Swami Vishwananda's teachings
Bhajan Workshop with Chaturananda
We were joyful that the offered workshops were so well received!

At Saturday night more than 500 people came for Darshan - it was a long night for us, and also for Swamiji!

On Sunday many visitors had to leave and it was time to say goodbye. Swami came and again spent time with the guests. He had an open ear for the people who came to him, even answered a few urgent questions.

The time Swami gives to each person is a blessing that we never really understand with the mind.

The peacocks had fun as they love black new shiny cars!
Since some months, we chant in the temple, continuously from 9 am till 9 pm, the mantra

Bhaja Nitai Gauranga Radhe Shyam -  Japa Hare Krishna Hare Ram.

On sunday night Swamiji showed up and sang with us. Immediately the temple was packed full, and he blessed us once more with a very special time to be in the presence with our Guru!

18 Day Bhagavad Gita Course with Sri Swami Vishwananda

“Whenever there is a decline in Dharma, whenever human beings are moving away from the path, whenever human beings are getting entangled by all the negativity, the Lord will come to the rescue.”
- Bhagavad Gita, Chapter IV, Verse 7

Most teachers give discourses on spiritual text from the mind level, because they haven’t had the opportunity to directly experience the Divine. When a teacher has directly experienced the Divine, their teachings have one characteristic that sets them apart from everyone else, and that is Simplicity. Swami Vishwananda who is constantly in communion with the Divine has the ability to take spiritual text and make it simple, so normal people who haven’t spent their whole lives reading scripture, can understand what God has to say.
The Bhagavad Gita, literally meaning the “Song of the Lord”, is an ancient Indian scripture composed in the form of a dialogue between God and man. It reveals the purpose and goal of human existence. It describes the science of self-realisation and the exact process by which human beings can establish their eternal relationship with God.
For the first time, Sri Swami Vishwananda has decided to give commentary on the Bhagavad Gita for 18 consecutive days. To receive the wisdom from a spiritual master, as He demystifies and expands on one of the greatest spiritual texts ever composed, will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
For Swamiji to guide and help participants in the Course, it is recommended that the participants have basic understanding of Lord Krishna’s life and why the Mahabharata War had to take place. Recommended readings include: “Sri Krishna Lila by the author Vanamali.”
The Course will be held at Shree Peetha Nilaya the “abode of the Divine Mother” and a place of non-stop spirituality. It will take place from July 30th– August 16th, 2014.
Translations will be provided in Russian, French, German, and other languages upon request.

Darshan in Rheinfelden, Switzerland, 2.4.2014

After more then 2 years Swami is visiting Switzerland again. First stop on the Darshan Tour was Rheinfelden (near Basel). The Darshan took place in a beautiful hall on the shores of river Rhine.

As usually at the beginning of a darshan Swami sang a bhajan, but realized soon that it wasn't so easy for the approximately 350 persons to sing along. Swami decided then to sing a simpler Radhe Krishna Bhajan. He explained that Radharani, the eternal consort of Lord Krishna, is the manifestation of devotion within everyone of us. She is seated deep in everyones heart, also in the animals.
To illustrate this Swami told us a story. It was about a sage who traveled with his disciples around and gave satsangs on the Bhagavatam. Where ever he went there came lots of people to listen to him. One day they were in a remote place and the master said: "Today we are going to the forest and give satsang." The disciples were shocked because to whom he wanted to give satsang, and the more the forest was known for its wild animals and thieves. But the master was determined to give satsang in the forest, to the animals and not to the people.

The master left it to the disciples to come along. But of course they didn't let him go alone. They went with him and thought by themselves that, if they would die in the forest with the master, it would be blessing.

They went into the forest and the master started to read the Gita. In this moment they heard a roar and a tiger emerged from the forest. The disciples got shocked and thought that this was it, that their lives would be finished now.

But the master stood up and went to tiger, pet the tiger on his head and whispered the Guru mantra in his ear which he had him given in a previous life. The tiger didn't know about that, but the Guru knew. The moment the Guru whispered the mantra in the tiger's ear, the tiger remembered, bowed down and big tears run from his eyes. And big tears were flowing from the master's eyes. Such is the relationship between the master and the disciple. Not just in one live, but in many lives. Even if the disciple has fallen on the level of an animal, it is the Guru's duty to remind him the aim of life. Here the Guru reminded him the meaning of the divine names. By chanting the divine names the mind is cleansed from the impurities. Like Krishna says in the Gita: "The one who's consciousness is clear will reach Me."

Swami told two more stories to illustrate the meaning and the greatness of pure love and devotion to the Divine. Because if one loves God truly, the heart of God is with the devotee and the heart of the devotee is with God.

Afterwards Swami asked everyone to sing along with him, no matter whether their voice is beautiful or not. Because God is happy about the love in our hearts. Swami began singing a Radhe Krishna Bhajan and shortly after started with the darshan, which went on till 0.30 a.m.

Darshan in Ins, Switzerland, 4.4.2014

After one day's rest we went to the next location of the Swiss Darshan tour: to Ins, near the Lake of Neuchâtel. About 400 people streamed into the beautifully decorated darshan hall.

Swami started, as in Rheinfelden, first with a simple Radhe Krishna Bhajan and urged everyone to sing along with him loudly. After a few problems warming up and with the help of Swami's instructions everybody sang loudly.

Guruji began his speech with a question that was put to him recently: "How is it that one could work great miracles with mantras in times long ago, and this is no longer so today?"

Swami Vishwananda explained that earlier the people felt a strong love when they got their Guru Mantra. Today, trust and faith is lacking. The attitude of the people today is as follows: "Guruji, please give me a mantra - but please fast, my taxi is waiting, I must go." And then they go to another master and say, "I love you too - please give me a mantra," and so accumulate mantras. How can the mantra give its effect?

Thousands of years ago, people had the same mantra sung as we did right now (the Bhajan). The difference is that the people at that time felt great love and humility in it. Getting a mantra is easy but what we do with it, how we work with it, is another matter.

Before a master assigns a mantra, he looks to whether the person is ready for it. In times past, it was a great honor to get a Guru mantra and you had to serve the Guru for a minimum of 12 years, and even then it was not sure if you would get a mantra.

Swami then told us the story of Dukhi Krishna also named Prabhu Shyamananda:
Already as a small boy Dukhi Krishna wanted nothing other than to serve his master. At the age of 14, he went to his master, who gave him one single task: to water the plants in the Ashram. Every day he had to go long distances and carry the water in a large clay pot on his head. He fulfilled this task with such great love and devotion that he did not even notice how the heavy clay pot hurt his head. He developed a wound on his head, which became infected so strongly that even maggots and worms came out. But in his love, Dukhi Krishna didn't notice this at all. One day he met his master, who saw the worms coming out from the wound. Only when the Master asked him about it, Dukhi Krishna realized his injury. There upon the Master put his hand on his head, healed him, and explained that his task was now fulfilled in Ahsram and that he should go to Vrindavan.

There Dhuki Krishna took the task to sweep a certain street. This road led to the place where today the Ras Lila Dance took place between Krishna and the Gopis. One day Dukhi Krishna found an anklet chain there, that was so valuable that it could only belong to a queen. But the only queen in Vrindavan is Radharani. Radha, who was meanwhile back in the heavenly world, noticed that her anklet was missing. She sent a companion to Dukhi Krishna to ask for the anklet back. But Dukhi Krishna demanded that the true owner herself come to regain the chain. And so Radharani came, disguised as a simple village girl to Dukhi Krishna. However, he wanted to return Her the chain only when She revealed Herself to him in Her true form. Radha, who saw the love and devotion in Dukhi Krishna, showed him Her divine form, gave him the name Shyamananda, and set Her foot on his forehead, which left an imprint behind. This impression is the point that we carry in the Tilak, representing the Guru, because it was the grace and divine guidance of the guru who brought Dhuki Krishna to the point that he could have the vision of Radharani. Only when we have experienced the vision of the divine, we have achieved the goal of life .

After this beautiful story, the Darshan started and lasted until 1:30 in the morning. After, there was a meal for all the helpers organized at the home of Marie and Cliven Tirvengadum from Mauritius with Mauritian dishes, so that Guruji feel like at home.

Yesterday afternoon was the third and final Darshan on Swami Vishwananda's "Switzerland Tour"

Diya writes:

He arrived one hour late, also here in Switzerland but than gave an amazingly beautiful Darshan.
He gave a speech and sang about Radha's glory. He explained about the importance of our daily sadhana.

There were more than 500 visitors and the Darshan had to be split in two rounds.

He took his time with everybody responding to questions and blessing murtis and malas.   Also in this evening, it was late when the Darshan came to an end, but everybody left happy.

The Power of the Rama Mantra

Today is Ram Navami
(Rama's Birthday)

At 10:00 am we celebrate Rama's Birthday with an Abishekam ceremony in our temple at Shree Peetha Nilaya.

Swami Vishwananda said about the Mantra "RAMA":

"Why is this two syllabled mantra so potent? Because it represents the perfect merger of Shiva and Narayana. How so?

The syllable RA was picked from the great eight syllabled Narayana Mantra, Om Namo Naa RA yanaaya and the syllable MA was picked from the great five syllabled Shiva mantra, Na MA shivaaya. Thus RAMA mantra combines the power of the Om Nama Shivaya mantra and the Om Namo Narayanaya maha mantra.

Thus the Rama mantra represents the perfect merger of Shiva and Narayana. Hence the pre-eminent position of the Rama mantra amongst mantras."

Here are some pictures from Darshan at Shree Peetha Nilaya last Saturday:

Sri Swami Vishwananda came a little later and sung some beautiful bhajans. Afterwards the darshan started ...

After a while some curious peacocks came and wanted to see where the music came from and what was going on. They sat for a while on the railing of the outside stairs and watched us before they flew up into the trees to sleep.

After about 6 hours the Darshan came to an end with the Aarti ceremony. Next, in the early morning Swamiji went already to Riga / Latvia to celebrate the inauguration of the Rama Temple there and to give a Satsang.

Today is Hanuman Jayanti!

Sri Swami Vishwananda said in his speech on Hanuman Jayanti 2010:

"Mahavishnu decided to incarnate as Rama and after that, He incarnated alone. So all the Deities, all the Devas incarnated.

At the same time He was asking Shiva: 'You are the Lord of the Universe, you are realised. You are one with God all the time, but tell me one thing:

On whom are you meditating, like that? You always sit in meditation, but for sure you are meditating on somebody.'

Shiva replied: 'Yes, all my thinking and all my mind, all my concentration, my meditation is only on God, Mahavishnu. So whenever I meditate it’s on Mahavishnu, that I’m meditating and my Love for Him doesn’t have any limit. So now that He is going to be incarnated on earth as Rama, I’m thinking also to be incarnated.'

So Hanuman is a manifestation of Shiva. He is a pure incarnation of Shiva actually. He is not just part of Shiva, but a full manifestation of Shiva.

Even if Shiva has space in Shiva Loka, in His body, He is a full manifestation of Hanuman. That’s why it’s said that if you can not pray to any Gods, pray only to Hanuman - you will have everything. And when you chant the Hanuman Chalisa, this part of the Hanuman Chalisa that says: 'I don’t pray to anybody, but only to you.'

'Aura Devata Chitta na dharayi,
Hanumata se yi sarva sukha karayi'.

It means: even if you don’t pray to any Deity, but only to Hanuman, you will receive the blessing of all the Deities."

Easter 2014 - The First Days

Over the easter feast days we have a lot of prayers in our church - here is the timetable for the 2nd half of Easter Week:

Services have been observed daily for hours in the Church, celebrating the many stages of Christ's last moments on Earth

Mira and the choir have been singing the whole time in their wonderful way:

We have already observed several liturgies and readings about the events and reasons why Jesus died on the cross for us. Several priests gave homilies, bringing clarity and understanding to the parables and words of Christ and his apostles. Everybody has been listening very attentively.

In the light hall there were two screens, one displaying the text of the readings and one a high quality live broadcast from inside the Church. This way it was possible for everybody to follow all the ceremonies in a comfortable way:

There where lamps prepared for the procession at the end of the ceremony of Good Friday. Everybody took one and we carried Jesus's body outside in a procession around the centre.

So far it's been a fantastic week of love and devotion to Christ and the sacrifice he made for us all. We now head into the final stretch of easter with a renewed spirit and with great anticipation for his resurrection!

Christ is Risen!

...Truly He is risen!"

This was called many many times in the Great Easter Night - in several languages but mostly in Greek:

"Christos Anesti!" and than the answer: "Alithos Anesti!"

Here follows an excerpt from Swami Vishwananda's Easter speech:

"Christ has risen to show that deep inside of everybody, one can rise. One can rise and find the Divine! Through his Grace, through the Grace of God, the Grace of a Master it is possible!
One just needs to say: 'God in Thy hand I give my spirit. In Thy hand I leave my hand.' Give your hand into the hand of the master, into the hand of God.
You just need to trust. Trust that God will guide you. Trust that the Master will guide you where it must be. There is nothing what happens that doesn't happen without the will of God!
God says: 'Come, I will give you Love!' You are not just a mere human being. You are more than that, you have the Love of God. You have me inside of you.

You have to change your mind. You have to change the way you think. With the mind you are limited. Let the wisdom of God have control of you!

Happy Resurrection!

You see: When Christ resurrects He resurrects in the heart of everybody! You are all resurrected with Christ because you are One with Him. So awake, let the spirit of God inside of you awake. So let Christ guide you, let the Master guide you, so that you can be the Glory of God, that you can be in the Love of God. That you can shine!"

Christos anesti ek nekron
Thanato Thanathon patisas
Kai tis en tis mnimasi
Zo-in charisamenos!
(Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs, bestowing Life!)

After everything, there was a special tasty Easter Lunch and Swamiji joined us in the big dining hall.

All the Deacons, Singers and Priests where sitting with him on a huge long table and we all had a lot of fun listening to "Swami Pepe's" story about Krishna and his flute, and other stories in Krishna's life (you may wonder, why stories of Krishna on Easter Sunday, but when one looks deeper, one finds the same essence in the life of Krishna and Christ(na)).

Inauguration of the Rama Temple in Riga, Latvia

On the 13th of April Sri Swami Vishwananda went to Riga to do the ceremonies for the new Rama Temple there. We got the following report from Kantishwari:

Satchidananda Vigraha Sri Ramachandra Temple in Riga, Latvia
Rama returns to Ayodha and to Riga
It all started we don’t know exactly when and how... what we know is a dream, which Triyambakeshwari had two years ago. She told our Swami Vishwasharadaananda that she saw a dream, where she was helping to build a Rama Temple in Latvia. After some time Guruji told our Swami that the Temple in Latvia we bear in mind should be for Rama.

Murtis of Sita, Ram, Lakshman and Hanuman for the Temple which were bought in Chennai during pilgrimage with Guruji in November 2013 are made of 5 metals (Pancha Tattva). They are breathtakingly beautiful and we couldn’t wait to see them in real life. We had to be patient though as the first time we would see them would be on Ram Navami.
During Christmas celebrations in Shree Peetha Nilaya we had a brief conversation with Guruji in entrance hall. He asked: "I heard that you are having a Rama temple in Riga.” We took a chance to ask Guruji to come to inaugurate the Temple and adding that we miss Him very much. He looked like He wasn’t going to come but then smiled His beautiful smile and said in a rush: "We’ll see, but only for one day.” This sounded like a promise and we were happy.
After Mahashivaratri celebrations, as we were heading to the airport, Swami Vishwasharadaananda told us the good news that Guruji indeed promised to come some time in April for one day to inaugurate the Temple. We had just over a month to make a proper Hindu Temple.
Swami Vishwasharadaananda had a vision of something like that when giving instructions about decorations
At that moment we only had our BM Center and sketch of mulasthan (altar) made by Pankajaananda and approved by Guruji.
Sketch by Pankajaananda! Seeing it, we all were mesmerized by the beauty-to-come-alive
It all had to become a temple. We weren’t even sure where it will be. Will we transform our Bhakti Marga center into the Temple? Or will we look for a new place? SO many things had to be done. You can imagine! But the best in this all was the notion that we are just instruments. We are serving our Guru and He will take care of everything, as He already knows all: where the Temple will be, how it will look like etc. We just had to attune to Him and let Him guide us, and feel the bliss of being His hands and in His hands.
In process...
We started our preparations. Our Bhakti Marga Center changed, expanded; all Prabhus and Matajis were involved in the process. While Prabhus were doing construction works, Inga was learning and teaching us Rama Bhajans; Hemangi was sewing curtains and dresses for the deities; Anete and Janis (Prabhus were helping also Matajis and vice versa) in London (thank you, devotees from BM UK, for helping Anete and Janis and us) were buying decorations and jewelry for Deities; Prebhavani and Tamarija were responsible for Prasad; Ousha was involved in everything else concerning the Temple; Swami Vishwasharadananda was the heart of everything, coordinating it all including doing Kalash Pujas on Saturdays and Sundays.
Two weeks before the event on Guru’s Thursday we finally got the date – 13th of April!!! Sunday between Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti. Sunday which we usually celebrate with longer bhajan singing after morning prayers, as it is Ram’s day. How cool is that!? 
SVSharadaananda writes in our FB Bhakti Marga Latvia group: Jai Gurudev! No, not like this. Jai Gurudev!))))))) Even like this JAI GURUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEV! )))))))))))))))))))))))) guess what news I have!))))

The last two weeks passed in a whirlpool. Week before the event Guruji told that He will also give a Satsang. So we had to split into two teams,- one was responsible for the Temple; another for the Satsang, for which we rented another, more spacious place. Up to now we had not publicly announced about inauguration of our Temple, as we calculated that only some 50 people would be able to comfortably sit, sing and dance in the hall. Now with a Satsang we had to go public, wanting more people to be able to receive Guruji’s blessing. Accordingly we chose to do like in SPN – two shifts for the inauguration ceremony.
Ram Navami was so magnificent here with us. It was felt that auspicious moment of opening is coming soon.
On Wednesday Swami Vishwakeshavaananda came from SPN to help uz with the final preparations for the Temple, to check if everything is ok, and if we have everything neccessary for pujas etc. These were the last days before The Event... Every night we were staying late in the Temple, singing, learning, decorating, cleaning, planning the organization of both events.

For example, on Friday night we realized that we will have to sing Ram Aarati which we don’t know yet, so Inga cancelled her late night studio work and two of us were trying to learn the song. At one point we felt like we won´t be able to learn it properlybut we had the very rare opportunity to talk to Swami Keshava who was extremely supportive. In SPN you can only see him in the temple, if you go to sing the mantra in the evening. Then he is singing with you while preparing everything for putting Deities to sleep. And that’s it. But here he sat with us, played songs from his phone, sang and played on harmonium, joked, told us about Ram and was so very calm and loving! Those few of us who experienced this blessing, felt very lucky and happy.
On Friday and Saturday we were happy to welcome our brothers and sisters from neighboring Russia and Belarussia, everybody got a seva job, helped a lot and could feel part of Rama’s servants. Thanks to all of you for that.
On Sunday at 1:00 PM the inauguration of the Temple started.
Guruji’s plane landed at 1:30 PM. He was welcomed by Satsang team at the airport, while Temple team was already starting the celebrations and waiting anxiously for Guruji(/Ram) to appear.
As Guruji arrived in the building, we sang Narayana bhajan for 20 minutes until finally He came inside the main Temple hall. This moment was completely surreal. Our center had changed so much, becoming the Temple - decorated in garlands, flowers everywhere, 4 Divine forms on the altar surrounded by palm trees and orange orchids, the place packed with people, some of us sitting as singers (trained only for month). And then came in Guruji- in His orange robe, in padukas which were offered by entering into the Temple, with His black woven hair (so "Ram").... For a while He seriously examined the altar...

Padukas from wood with Carved OM signs, Lotuses and Shankhas handmade by devotee Ivo

After that He gave a little speech:
"Rama stands for dharma, righteousness. He was a righteous king and He was just. He was compassionate. The Name Ram consists of two syllables: Ra stands for Narayana and Am stands for Shiva. So Ram Nam stands for this unity. When Lord Rama had to cross over to Lanka (nowadays Sri Lanka), He did His penance to Shiva showing that Lord loves His bhakta, His devotee and that they go together.

The Lord can’t be a Lord without a devotee and devotee can’t be a devotee without God. And this is the eternal connection that one has. Firstly to the Guru. And the Guru will lead the way to Lord until you have the realization of knowing that there is no difference between Guru and Lord. The Guru is the personification of the Lord Himself guiding you.

So Rama stands for that dharma. Dharma for unifying. As a King, Rama was unifying. And whenever we sing the name of Ram, it is unifying our mind (Shiva Tattva) with heart (Vishnu Tattva). Until one has not overcome the mind, as the Gita said, one can’t move on a spiritual path - when one’s mind is still attached to the outside world. Only when the mind is unified with the heart, one can see. Then only, the Lord can reveal Himself - when you move away from this.

Knowledge is also very important – to understand. As Krishna said: "No Veda, no scriptures can lead you there. Only when you drop deep inside your heart with a help of a Guru, with a help of the Master.” That is called Guru Kripa – the grace of the Master - which will reveal the grace of God. You are blessed to have Lord Rama coming to your city and to your country. Serve Him! Surely He will awake this love inside of you! Jai Gurudev!”
After this beautiful speech, Guruji continued with ceremonies and we sang the name of Rama, unifying our mind with our heart. Guruji was lovingly guiding us, showing us what to do and when, correcting when we did something inaccurately. He was Love incarnate. He was Ram.
At one point He explained that now He will perform the Prana Pratishta ceremony – infusing Prana into statues, so they become Rama, Sita, Lakshman and Hanumanji Themselves. It was so very beautiful! Guruji was chanting mantras and Swami Vishwakeshavaananda was touching with the yagna the related parts of murtis.

"I just finished the Prana Pratishta ceremony – infusing of the life force into the Deity, so now I will venerate different parts of Lord Rama, touching each part with the yagna, infusing the shakti into the Deity itself. Otherwise it is just a statue. So what makes it a Deity is Prana Pratishta. Prana Pratishta is a prayer where you call Lord Rama to install Himself into the statue in order for it to become a Deity. It becomes alive. They say that people who consider that statue is just a statue are fools - ignorant. The statue is not just a statue, it is the Deity Itself - Rama Himself. When we do Puja, the Yagna, it is Ram Himself here and Sita Devi and Lakshman and Hanumanji.”

Guruji asked us to sing the Narayana bhajan which we were singing, inviting Him to come. It was a magical moment. We were inviting Ram, but in our hearts it was all together - Narayana, Rama and most of all our beloved Gurudev which we were calling to come and stay with us, so we can eternally serve Him.

Soon after this we were singing Arati and it all went well. ;)

We have been waiting for the moment when Guruji will give the name of the Temple and finally He announced:

"This Temple will be known as Satchidananda Vigraha Ramachandra Temple, meaning Eternal Bliss.”
Guruji then gave the final speech after which it was possible to approach Deities and have a Darshan and also Prasad from the hands of Guruji.

"All of you have the grace of having Ramachandra here and also the blissful one, who spreads the message and Love... His love on all of you so that you fullfil your life’s purpose. And whatever you wish through His grace you may achieve.

But the most important thing in life is to attain Him. Don’t dance in Maya! Everything around is Maya!

Yesterday I was listening to one verse of Surdas’ poem. One part said - "People say to love this and love that, to love the world to have this and that. What is the use of all that if everything is You, if I just love you and you fulfill my life’s purpose."

So like Surdasji said – to love God is the ultimate. To attain Him - to receive His grace - is your duty. That’s the dharma. That’s why you incarnate on Earth. And it is lucky to know about it, because after so many lives, you get the grace of knowing Him, serving Him. That’s not something like, "Ah, I am born on Earth directly. I jump and become Vaishnava, I jump and become spiritual". No, it’s not like that. It is many lives of service to Lord, many lives you have polished.

Like when you find gold deep down from the earth, you can’t make jewelry directly out of it. At first, you have to purify it. And gold goes through many fires, until it becomes the beautiful jewelry like you are wearing. Like that, your soul also has gone through many lives of purification. Until you receive the grace of knowing the Lord, serving Him, loving Him. Because in His love there is no limit.

Everybody can love Him the way they want. He doesn’t say: You can love me only one way. No. You can love him as a child, as lover, as a father. This is up to you. This is your choice. You can have your personal relationship with Him. This is not something as - "God is there and I am here". No! He is seated inside your heart and He is calling. Love Him the way you want and He will come to you accordingly.

Surdas Ji was blind, but every day, when the priest would dress the Deity in the Temple, he would sing the Glory as if he was seeing the Lord with his eyes, like other people see. He would describe in great detail each jewelry which the Deity was wearing and people would ask – how come he knows it!? He must be lying, he is telling everybody that he is blind, so people would pity him, but in reality he can see. So they wanted to test him.

One fine day the pujari of the temple didn’t dress Krishna, he left Him naked. They wanted to see the reaction of Surdas. He didn’t tell him nothing and everybody was waiting. The Pujari said to the people: It’s time now, soon the temple will be open. At that moment Surdas exclaimed, "Oh My Lord, they forgot to dress you! You are naked, but in even your nakedness you are the most beautiful."

So then they knew seeing that nothing is open yet, that Surdas is revealing the truth. He saw not with his physical eyes, but with his inner eyes. He saw inside the temple. Like that many people have eyes, but yet they don’t see.

Even Christ said it so many times: "If you have eyes, you will see." But yet people don’t realize that. When you look with your heart, you see everything more clearly then with your physical eyes. And that's what the Lord said in Gita: "See me in everything, see me in whatever you do and you shall attain me". He said it to Arjun: "It’s not about the food what you eat, it’s not about what you do. But it’s about how you do it. With what intention you do it." It’s very important.

He didn’t say not to do your duty. He said, "Firstly you have to do your duty - your dharma is very important - but don’t hang on the fruit of your actions. Don’t hang on the glory which comes with it, because it’s all your downfall."

So Ramachandra Bhagavan – you know His life story. I don’t have much time now to tell it, but He was sent for 14 years into exile. He was a son of king Dasharath and yet He was sent into exile, where His wife was kidnapped. He shows that even if the Lord incarnates, sometimes He has to play certain role, to show the dharma of life, to show the duty. With how much dedication we are serving Him? With how much dedication are we living our life? So through Sri Ram and Sita Devi’s grace and blessing, may you achieve also the state of surrendering to the Lotus Feet of the Lord and attaining His Grace. Jai Gurudev!”
At that point most of us left for the other part of the event – for Satsang, as it was already 6:00 PM and Satsang was starting at 7:00 PM and we had to welcome guests.

Satsang on the 13th of April in Riga / Latvia

Before Guruji came He let us sing for over an hour, longing for Him. With our hearts on a sleeve we felt like one family, even like one body. As we sang, we watched people who came for Satsang. Most of them joined in, some singing along, some closing their eyes in mediation, some clapping hands and smiling. We definitely were sharing Love, which our Guru was pouring through us.

At one moment when we sang "Krishna Prema Mayi Radha”, evening sun broke through the clouds - all the day the sky was grey and it was raining a bit from time to time - coloring them in deep purple. It was such a sight, and we remembered Guruji’s words that Krishna’s colour is that of the sky before the thunderstorm, or the deep purple in feathers from peacock’s tale. Krishna was coming!
Guruji came soon after that (we had an opportunity to invite Him with a Narayana bhajan for the third time in one day and it felt like a blessing, itself) and gave a beautiful Satsang, answering different questions, singing a bit, laughing a lot.

He also told a story of Dukhi Krishna and we had a feeling that it wasn’t just a story - we felt that He is Krishna and He is taking us to Vrindavan or dancing His Rasa Lila with us in different spheres which we can’t grasp with our minds, but can feel within our hearts.

Satsang ended after 11:00 PM and more then 200 people came to listen to Guruji.
After Satsang, we, the devotees, waited for Guruji to leave as it usually happens in SPN hall. And when He came it was such a feeling! After this fantastic month, when He gave us the opportunity to think almost only of Him, to do everything only for Him, unifying us, letting us sing almost nothing other than the name of Rama for hours, and leading us to the point where we had to surrender and forget ourselves.

He showered us in His Love. He came to each one of us, taking our hands, talking a bit to everybody, answering to some urgent questions, giving His blessings and most of all smiling and looking deep in our eyes, making our hearts skip a beat and melt.
And when He was almost at the door and all of us on the floor making pranams, we heard our Guruji’s soft, loving and above all humble voice saying: "Thank you for the Temple!”

It was such a gift, that we found ourselves swimming in a bliss where you want to cry from love and joy and ... oh, well. As Guruji said – Satchidananda is something beyond words.
Next day at midday Guruji was leaving for SPN, so we went to the airport to say our heartfelt goodbyes and He once more showered us with His love.

Can’t help but think of His words, that you have to make just one step closer to God and He will run towards you. On the outward we were building a temple for Rama, but inside of our hearts we were discovering the temple in which our Guru Bhagavan resides. With every moment we felt closer and closer to Him and more at home. And at the end He mirrored us this closeness which one have with Guru, with God.
Bhagavan Ramachandra ki ... Jai!
Satgurudeva Premavatara Sri Sri Swami Vishwananda MahaPrabhu ki ... Jai!

Thank you Guruji - we Love You so!

Question:
Swamiji, in Bhakti Marga Mission, you highlight the importance of three qualities: Love, Patience and Unity. Why have you highlighted these three qualities in particular?

Sri Swami Vishwananda:
"Because these three qualities are for this time the most important. Without Love, nothing happens, you know. Without patience, you can't do anything. And you're living in a world of difference, only by uniting the difference will disappear. So, that's why I choose these three, Love, Patience and Unity. And unity also stands for the uniting. Through patience and Love one will unite with the Divine."

Question:
What is a Guru mantra? What makes it different from a normal mantra?

Sri Swami Vishwananda:
"The Guru mantra carries the full potential of the Grace of the Master inside of it. While giving it to the disciple, the Guru gives part of Himself to the disciple. Which means, wherever the Guru's level is, by chanting the Guru mantra, the disciple gets uplifted also towards it. That's what the Guru mantra is. A normal mantra doesn't carry that vibration. All mantras are good, you know, but the Guru mantra is the best."

Audience:
And what makes the Guru mantra a Guru mantra?

Sri Swami Vishwananda:
"Well, the Guru mantra is given by the Guru, that's what makes the mantra a Guru mantra. You see, the Guru mantra, like I said just now, carries all the qualities of the Master inside of it. So when one receives the gift of the Guru mantra, automatically, the Guru is responsible for the person to cross over the human mind. So that's what the Guru mantra is."

Question:
What is Mahavatar Kriya Babaji's mission on earth?

Sri Swami Vishwananda:
"To protect this planet. As long as He will be here, nothing will ever happen to Mother Earth."

Maha Lakshmi Yagna - Day One

Two days ago, on the 1st of May, our first Maha Lakshmi Yagna began at Shree Peetha Nilaya.

At about 10am Sri Swami Vishwananda performed a Guru Puja to Mahavatar Babaji:

The second big puja performed by Swamiji was for Lord Vishwakshena, the general of Lord Vishnu's army and the Sri Vaishnava equivalent of Lord Ganesh. A Kalash Puja followed to invoke Maha Lakshmi to be present during our prayers.

Then, finally at about 1pm the Yagna started.

There where three big kundhs built up and so all the guests in the tent were very comfortable and each person was able to participate throughout the ceremonies.

We chanted for 10 rounds, amounting to 1008 repetitions of the Mantra:

"Om Hreem Mahalakshmiyai Namaha"

We finished those rounds at approximately 8pm but truly nobody felt any fatigue or hunger or any other such thing! The energy and atmosphere in the tent was magnificent and extremely loving, ensuring that everyone was ready for more prayers that were to follow.

After this Guruji invited everybody to come to his kundh, round by round, to chant the 1008 names of Maha Lakshmi.

The whole prayer was completed with Aarti which lasted another hour, meaning the festivities went on til 11 pm! It was an intense day of prayer and devotion to the Divine Mother, the sweetest of the sweet who presides over all of us at Shree Peetha Nilaya throughout the year. We were all looking forward to more of the same the next day and we sure got it! Look out for a report on the second day's activities to follow in the coming days!

Swami Vishwananda visited the Kanchi Kamakshi Temple in Hamm

On Sunday we were privileged to attend an official event by invitation of Swami Siva Sri Arumuga Paskarakurukal at the Kanchi Kamakshi Temple in Hamm-Uentrop. This temple is dedicated to Kanchi Kamakshi and is considered to be one of the largest Hindu temples in Europe. It is the only temple of Kamakshi Devi outside of India/South Asia.

Guruji was guest of honour for the Kumbha abhishekam taking place at the temple. Kumbha abhishekams normally take place once every 12 years when the temple or the main deity is repainted.

The temple tower in Hamm (of which there are two towers) No. One had been painted and completed and so the ceremony began around 9 a.m. with an abhishekam to the kalash (at the very top of the scaffolding of the painted tower).

Having arrived around 10 a.m. Guruji went straight into the temple and was greeted officially by Swami Paskarakurukal and garlanded. The temple was packed full - there were around 800 - 1000 people present. Shortly after Guruji had arrived the doors were opened to the inner temple so that the first darshan of the main murthi Kanchi Kamakshi Ambal could be viewed....everyone was squeezed together like sardines...trying to see Maa and catch a glimpse of Her as the doors were being opened. It is said that as the doors of the inner temple are opened on such an auspicious occasion the prayers of all those present are answered. Obviously there was quite a bit of pushing and cheering as the doors slowly opened to reveal Divine Mother sitting there in all her glory!

After this we were led outside so that all the Swamis present from Bhakti Marga (BM) could attend a yagna at the yagna shala just outside the main temple. There were 10 pujaris carrying out 10 yagnas simultaneously for us. After the yagna, Guruji, the Swamis and the BM musicians went inside the temple to "rock the house" with bhajans and kirtans!

Since this temple is from South India - a Tamil temple, the music is of a different style...but nevertheless Guruji "rocked" the house, the Indians and SriLankans there at first were not sure what do... but slowly some of them started moving and swinging to the music and ended up dancing and singing along! The last song was sung by Swami Paskarakurukal himself!

After the singing there was kalash puja conducted during which time Maa was given abhishekam. Liters and liters of milk were poured over Her - from where we were sitting (right in the middle of the temple) we had a perfect view of the whole occasion. Ma looked really happy! During this time there was some really loud traditional South Indian instrumental music being played which was charging the atmosphere with energy.

Following this we were then guided out of the temple to Swami Paskarakurukal's house for a late lunch. Pramod had the chance to practice his Tamil (he only knows a little!). We took one final darshan of Maa before jumping in the cars for a long drive home.  All in all it was a great event and really enjoyed by all filled with prayer, atmosphere and the presence of Maa and our beloved Guru.

Maha Lakshmi Yagna - Day Two

The second day began with the usual rituals - the Guru Stotram and the Guru Puja

By the time Sri Swami Vishwananda arrived, the kundhs where all ready and prepared to begin with yet another day of intense Yagnas dedicated to the Divine Mother.

On the second day Swamiji invited everybody to come to his kundh in the front - the 1008 names of Maha Lakshmi were chanted once again but Swamiji had to add several more rounds to allow everybody the opportunity to sit with him at his main kundh.

Way after the usual lunchtime had passed (Swamiji was asked by Bhagyshri if we should serve lunch during the ceremonies - he refused: "We should fast for Lakshmi today...") the Yagna came to an end and several different gifts were offered into the fire such as flower petals, coins and a beautiful sari for Maa.

At the end of the Yagna, Swamiji asked the devotees present who would be willing to offer some jewellery made of silver or gold for Lakshmi. In no time a big tray was filled with all sorts of jewellery and was offered into the fire.

When the Yagna was finished, Swami Vishwananda performed Abishekam with the new Lakshmi murthi which arrived from Chennai two weeks ago, preparing it to be installed in our temple at the ashram. She was incredibly sweet and her love permeated the entire tent, leaving everyone present with a real sense of fulfilment.

Next on the programme was the Pada Puja to Sri Swami Vishwananda's feet, done by Swami Paranthapa from South Africa. It was a great blessing for us all and a fitting end to the 2-day ceremony.

In the end he gave another talk about Lakshmi -

"Lakshmi and Narayana go hand in hand, but they are not the same. She is always sitting at the feet of Narayana, showing Her devotion and Her surrender to the Lord - to the will of the Lord. She is ever ready to bestow what the Lord asks for, without any questioning.
In that aspect She is showing how we should surrender to God. She helps us to reach the Lotus feet of the Lord, to receive His grace and attain Him. Whoever asks with a pure heart will receive Him. She is the spiritual wealth, the spiritual giver."

In the form of a procession, Swamiji carried the freshly inaugurated Lakshmi Murti to our temple, where She was welcomed by a lot of devotees with an aarti and joyous singing.

The day ended with a deep silence and meditation together with Swamiji, reflecting on all that had passed during these 2 days, all the blessings we had received and all the Love that he continues to give to us, event after event after event. Our deepest gratitude to Swamiji and Maha Lakshmi!
